Pastor Jim

The Bible teaches us: “We love because He first loved us.” [1Jo 4:19] My love for the church and for people stems from God’s love for me. In 1978 at the University of Florida God’s love broke through into my life and continues to be a driving force in my life and my ministry as a pastor. I believe God’s love provides everything necessary to help any person discover who God is and has created them to be in this world.

My wife, Kathy and I began our ministry sharing God’s love to university students on five different university campuses over a ten-year period. The last campus on which we worked in Johannesburg, South Africa, opened up many opportunities for us to serve. As a result, we became pastors of a local church and a K-12 school reaching out to the uneducated, forgotten masses of the South African Apartheid system.

After five years in Africa, my family and I return to the United States and became a part of The United Methodist Church in Brandon, Florida. There I served as a pastor and Kathy as the head of Children’s Ministry for over 7 years.  I obtained a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in Orlando Florida. In June of 2001 Kathy and I moved back to our hometown in St. Augustine, Florida to start a new United Methodist Church.  

Since that time we have been blessed to be a part of a growing congregation whose goal is to “Know God and Make Him Known” to the people of St. John’s County, Florida. Future plans include a church and community facility that will be located in the World Golf Village area.

My family consists of Kathy, my compliment in life for over 31 years and my 3 children who are all grown and pursuing there own dreams in life. Kathy and I love to take long walks on the beach and spend time with our friends. Surfing and fishing are my top hobbies, along with an occasional round of golf.
